BACKGROUND

The Law Office of Angela N. Watson, PLLC is devoted to family law. With over sixteen years of legal career experience, Attorney Angela N. Watson has handled a variety of family law issues including custody, visitation, child support, and step parent adoption.

She has obtained numerous restraining orders for victims of domestic violence and also has successfully defended clients against baseless claims of domestic violence.

She has drafted many prenuptial and divorce settlement agreements and knows what it takes to ensure their enforceability.

Angela also spent five years teaching law courses as an adjunct college professor. This combination of practical and academic experience serves her clients well.

PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENTS

It is much easier during the beginning of a relationship to plan for the future, which includes how the parties want to handle dissolution of the marriage if circumstances change.  A prenuptial agreement is one way to control how assets and debts are distributed or how custody and visitation should be determined if one or both parties wants to end the marriage. A prenuptial agreement avoids a contentious debate during divorce, because the parties have previously agreed to the terms. Of course, prenups are a touchy subject, and thus they are not appropriate for every couple.

If you are considering getting married and you need peace of mind about your children or your personal property, a prenuptial agreement can help you both tremendously.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

Angela obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond in 1994 and graduated from the William and Mary School of Law in 2000.

Originally, Angela practiced in the areas of medical malpractice defense, personal injury, and product and premise liability defense. She later focused on real estate, collections, eviction, foreclosure, and bankruptcy. However, during her entire legal career she has practiced family law. Angela has always championed family law issues and also has volunteered her services. She has now decided to focus solely on her passion- family law.

She is licensed to practice law in Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
